Graphing Art on Desmos: A Unique Experience

Creating art on Desmos was an exciting experience for me. However, I encountered some challenges along the way, particularly when working with log and exponential functions. One of the key factors in creating my portrait was ensuring that the domain and range restrictions did not exceed their space and interfere with other parts of the graph. Fortunately, Desmos made it easy to pinpoint the exact point on the graph, allowing me to set the domain and range restrictions with ease.

The rational equations were particularly useful for creating decorations on my Christmas tree. Radical equations helped me create a perfect curve for my eyebrows, which added a nice touch to my overall design. I found exponential equations to be the most challenging, but ultimately incorporated them into my design as a form of decoration.

In contrast, sine equations were relatively easy to manipulate and I used them to create various features on my portrait, including my hairline, nose, lips, and letters. Once I had a clear idea of what I wanted my art to look like, I began experimenting with different equations to see which ones would be easiest to work with.

Before using Desmos, I started by sketching out my design with a pencil and paper. This helped me visualize the final result and make any necessary adjustments before moving on to the digital stage. Since I am not familiar with Desmos beyond graphing equations, it took some time to get accustomed to using the website. Unfortunately, I underestimated how long this task would take, but it was worth the effort.
